Job Responsibilities
- Hold and maintain a valid Commercial Pilot Licence (Helicopter) with appropriate ratings.
- Act as Pilot-in-Command at all times, having authority over flight crew, passengers, and assigned ground staff (except technical engineering matters), ensuring professional conduct.
- Comply with Helistar’s Operations Exposition, CCAR requirements, and ensure all flights are planned and conducted safely and legally.
- Ensure the safe operation of the aircraft, occupants, and cargo throughout the flight.
- Follow all normal and emergency procedures in the Flight Operations Manual and Aircraft Flight Manual.
- Ensure all required flight documentation is carried on board.
- Confirm aircraft loading and performance remain within approved limits.
- Verify the aircraft is airworthy prior to flight, ensuring maintenance requirements, MEL provisions, and airworthiness directives are complied with.
- Maintain the Aircraft Technical Log (ATL) and record any defects after flight.
- Ensure refuelling is conducted in accordance with the Operations Manual.
- Manage safe passenger embarkation, disembarkation, and discipline when ground staff are unavailable.
- Prevent carriage of persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs unless medically authorized.
- Monitor and ensure accuracy of all aircraft communications and comply with all CATS instructions and reporting requirements, including operations at unattended airfields.
- Conduct passenger safety briefings in accordance with the Operations Manual.
- Operate the aircraft within MEL limitations and comply with any operational restrictions or suspensions.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager and inform the Chief Pilot when maintenance is required away from base.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CCAR flight operations requirements and present pilot logbook upon request.
- Remain on standby at the office when not assigned to flight duties.
Job Requirements
- Must hold valid and current CPL (H) with BK117 C2 type rating
- 1,000hrs total, 500hrs turbine, 50hrs on type and 300hrs PIC
- Must have attended and undergone Dangerous goods course and held valid certificate.
