Job description

Career Objective

  • Advise the Board of Management on research and development strategies to ensure the creation of highly competitive, technologically advanced products that meet technical standards, legal requirements, and market demand.
  • Lead, manage, and operate the R&D Center as the core technology hub, serving as the key link between R&D Centre and its Member Companies (MCs).

Job Description

1. Leadership & Management of the R&D Center

  • Advise the Board of Directors on the overall R&D strategy for the system, including:
  • Technology strategy
  • Investment plans for machinery, equipment, and software supporting R&D activities
  • Organize and manage the R&D Center’s operations, ensuring its role in:
  • Technical direction
  • Support
  • Quality and technical control for Member Companies
  • Establish a unified R&D governance framework, including:
  • R&D processes
  • Design standards
  • Testing, validation, and certification standards

2. Support & Collaboration with Member Companies (MCs)

  • Act as the primary liaison with the Board of Directors, technical, manufacturing, and R&D teams of Member Companies.
  • Receive and consolidate requests for:
  • New product development
  • Technology improvement initiatives
  • Support Member Companies in:
  • Technical solutions
  • Manufacturing technologies
  • Quality standards and certifications
  • Failure analysis and product improvement
  • Ensure technological, standard, and technical platform alignment across all Member Companies.

3. Product & Technology Development Strategy

  • Define and guide the strategic product portfolio.
  • Research and analyze:
  • Technology trends
  • Market trends
  • International standards
    to provide strategic direction for Member Companies.

4. R&D Talent & Capability Management Across the System

  • Develop a standardized R&D competency framework for the entire system.
  • Guide recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of R&D personnel at both the R&D Center and Member Companies.

5. R&D Budget & Investment Effectiveness Management

  • Manage the R&D project portfolio across the system.
  • Develop and control system-level R&D budgets.
  • Evaluate:
    • R&D budget utilization efficiency
    • Commercialization effectiveness at Member Companies

6. Reporting & Strategic Advisory

  • Report directly to the CEO / Board of Directors on:
  • Technology strategy
  • Technical risks
  • R&D progress and performance
  • Advise on strategic investment decisions related to:
  • R&D Centers
  • Testing equipment
  • Core technologies

7. Other Responsibilities

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the CEO / Board of Directors.

Authority

  • Propose and approve decisions within delegated authority.

  • Direct Reporting To
    • Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
  • Directly Managing
    • All positions within the R&D Center

Competency Requirements

Mandatory / Preferred

1. Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (Mandatory)

2. Major

  • Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, or related disciplines (Mandatory)

3. Certifications

  • MBA/EMBA, PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt, ISO Lead Auditor, UL/EMC Certification, or R&D/Innovation Management certifications (Preferred)

4. Experience

  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in product R&D (preferably in electrical/electronic products), including:
  • 3–5 years in senior management roles
  • System-level R&D management
  • Multi-entity / multi-subsidiary operations
  • Mass production product development
  • Strong understanding of:
  • R&D processes
  • Manufacturing technologies
  • Quality systems and certifications
  • Experience working with:
  • Certification bodies
  • Testing laboratories
  • Inspection and regulatory organizations

5. Technical & Professional Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of:
  • Product development processes
  • Manufacturing technologies
  • Safety standards, quality standards, and product testing
  • Strong strategic thinking, project management, people management, and budget management skills

6. IT Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for reporting, analysis, and presentations
  • Ability to use R&D project management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Notion, Trello, or equivalent)
  • Experience using ERP/PLM systems for:
  • Progress tracking
  • Cost control
  • BOM management
  • Engineering change management
  • Knowledge of digital transformation in R&D is an advantage

7. Language Skills

  • Proficient in English communication and technical documentation
  • Ability to conduct meetings and technical discussions with international partners and experts

8. Skills

  • Strong leadership, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work effectively under high pressure
