Lead and manage the Optical Engineering team to ensure effective execution of projects and achievement of business objectives.
Drive the development of new products and improvements to existing products or product lines while ensuring projects are delivered on schedule.
Evaluate design feasibility, optimization, and cost-effectiveness to meet technical and commercial targets.
Oversee the design and development of complex and high-precision optical systems.
Develop flat panel display inspection systems and optical test equipment for smart devices.
Design and implement vision systems for cosmetic defect inspection (e.g., AOI, AVI).
Lead the development of precision handling and component placement assembly equipment using guided vision systems.
Utilize and guide the team in applying machine vision tools (e.g., Halcon, MATLAB, Python) and optical simulation technologies.
Plan resources effectively and strengthen team capability through training, mentoring, and recruitment.
Provide coaching, guidance, and motivation to enhance team productivity and performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, software, system engineering, sales, and marketing functions.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
Master’s or PhD degree in Physics (Optics preferred).
Minimum 5 years of experience in designing test equipment using optical components or vision systems, including at least 2 years in a managerial role leading a team of more than four (4) engineers.
Extensive hands-on experience in the design and manufacturing of machinery or automation equipment, preferably within the electronics, automotive, or semiconductor industries.
Strong expertise in optical system design and vision-based inspection systems.
Proficiency in machine vision tools such as Halcon, MATLAB, Python, and optical simulation software.
Excellent English communication skills (both written and spoken).
Strong leadership, people management, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Effective presentation skills and the ability to evaluate and provide constructive feedback on ideas.
