RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities (Applicable to the Role)
- Provide advanced expertise in materials science, chemistry, and manufacturing processes to resolve complex technical issues related to:
- Metallized ceramic substrates
- Soldering, wire bonding, and product reliability
- Wet chemical cleaning processes
- Wafer surface treatment, plating, and coating
- Metal parts with surface treatments (anodizing, plating, coating)
- Polymers (epoxy, underfill, encapsulants, adhesives)
- Thermal interface materials (TIMs)
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) using data-driven approaches and fundamental engineering principles.
- Observe and analyze manufacturing processes directly to develop deep process understanding.
- Design and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) to identify root causes and optimize processes.
- Utilize failure analysis (FA) tools to validate technical findings and support quality improvements.
- Monitor and control critical process parameters to ensure stability, high yield, and consistent product quality.
- Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs and process control strategies.
- Initiate and drive process improvement activities to enhance robustness, capability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with global experts to support process development and technology innovation.
- Support customer quality issues and supplier-related problems with technical solutions.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and deliver presentations in English for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Manager Responsibilities (Additional to the Role)
- Lead and manage a team of engineers and technical specialists across multiple disciplines.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely achievement of objectives under resource constraints.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members to build technical capability and leadership pipeline.
- Set goals, evaluate performance, and foster a high-performance and accountable work culture.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, productivity, and cost optimization.
- Lead new product introduction (NPI) and technology transfer from global teams to local manufacturing.
- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration among engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams.
- Represent the organization in technical discussions with customers, auditors, and global experts.
- Take ownership of critical decisions related to quality and production, including:
- Stopping production lines when necessary
- Rejecting non-conforming materials or products
- Escalating high-risk quality issues
- Monitor operational KPIs and report performance to senior management.
- Ensure timely implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
- Promote a safe, quality-driven, and collaborative working environment.
- Lead strategic initiatives such as factory expansion, new line setup, and digital system integration (ERP/MES).
REQUIREMENTS
Core Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or above in:
- Materials Science & Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Applied Physics / Microelectronics
Experience
- Minimum 12+ years of experience in high-tech manufacturing environments
- Strong hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Semiconductor backend / OSAT
- Advanced packaging / power electronics / thermoelectrics
- Surface treatment and plating technologies
- Wet chemical and cleaning processes
- Wafer processing and thin films
- Metallized ceramic substrates
- Polymer materials (epoxy, underfill, adhesives)
- Thermal management materials (TIMs)
Technical Competencies
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience with DOE and statistical analysis tools
- Hands-on experience with failure analysis techniques
- Deep understanding of materials science, surface chemistry, and process integration
- Ability to analyze process data and translate findings into actionable solutions
