The gradual shift from the trend of “work from home” (WFH) to “work from anywhere” (WFA) helps employees achieve total flexibility in both time and geography.

What is WFA and why does it work?

Although many countries are being locked down because of the COVID-19, candidates from anywhere still have plenty job opportunities as long as they can ensure the company’s timetable.

It can be said that WFA is an upgrade of the Work From Home (WFH) model. If WFH is flexible in terms of time, then WFA helps employees to be fully flexible, even geographic location, save time and costs, and receive high salary. This is preferred by millennials and Gen Z as they can work and travel the world at the same time, meanwhile balance work and life (take care of family, learning foreign languages, learn new skills). According to PWC, in Vietnam, 54% of 1,146 employees said that they work effective remotely. Only 8% feel unproductive at home.

What do candidates need to prepare to start WFA?

Firstly, WFA requires employees to adapt stronger, more flexible to the new requirements of the digital age. It is necessary for them to participate in technology training programs, experience online working models, improve foreign languages, even skills to work with multinational teams. Companies will evaluate employees’ performance on the quality of their work, virtual interaction and feedback from customers – colleagues.

Secondly, candidates need to know the leading careers in this trend such as: architecture, engineering, computers, technology, are facing recruitment shortages. Their skills will be sought after, if they make sufficient investment in the right field.

WFA model varies greatly between businesses. Workers need to research and consider carefully to establish a suitable career path.
